About Us

Here at Frank F Harrison Community Association we believe people should be given opportunity for personal development and progress, and participation in educational and recreational activities, regardless of age, gender, social circumstance or background.

The Frank F Harrison Community Association was established during the 1970’s as part of an initiative to open up school facilities to local residents out of school hours. This quickly developed beyond sports and recreational lettings into the delivery of adult education and youth provisions with the aim of enabling local people to build their skills and knowledge, and therefore improve personal self-esteem and life potential.

The organisation is now an independent charity delivering a range of services from both the Beechdale site and other venues. The organisation is overseen by a group of Trustee Directors who are local people, and are representatives of service users, or are of other local and borough wide organisations. Trustees are elected at our Annual General Meetings which are open to all local people and those with a genuine interest in the aims and objectives of the Community Association.

Despite funding streams becoming more prescriptive and targeted at particular groups over recent years, the Frank F Harrison Community Association remains committed to this ethos of ‘Lifelong Learning in the Community’. This is done through our youth work, community classes and activities as well as lettings for meetings and conferencing.
